  • Working day mobility survey (EMEF) of the ATM of the Barcelona area

The Working Day Mobility Survey (EMEF) is an annual statistic published by the Metropolitan Transport Authority (ATM), Barcelona City Council, the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB) and the Association of Municipalities for Mobility and Urban Transport (AMTU). The survey has been carried out by the Institut Metròpoli (before IERMB) since 2003.

The EMEF has the objective to identify the basic characteristics of mobility on working days (Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays) of the population aged 16 and over, resident in the Barcelona Integrated Tariff System.

Mobility surveys are a statistical instrument that allows us to obtain information about how and why the population moves, and at the same time they represent trend analysis tools for mobility planning. Based on the data they provide, mobility patterns can be analysed according to the characteristics of the population and the different territories.

Request EMEF Database: through this link you can request the EMEF Databases. The ATM will make the EMEF databases available to scientific research institutes, researchers, research centres and public law entities dedicated to the design, planning, programming, monitoring and evaluation of public policies. Confidential data will be provided for scientific purposes covered by statistical secrecy, under certain conditions laid down by regulation, on condition that they do not permit direct identification of individuals, respecting data protection legislation and statistical secrecy.

Article 27 of LAW 5/2016, of December 23 of the Statistical Plan of Catalonia 2017-2020 and amending Law 23/1998 modifies Article 30 of Law 23/1998. It is now reworded as follows:

    Article 30

    1. The Institute of Statistics of Catalonia and the institutions and bodies of the Catalan Statistical System must promote and facilitate the use of the statistical information available to improve the assessment of public policies of the administrations of Catalonia, and also to monitor and programme future policies to be undertaken.

    2. Scientific research institutes, researchers, research centres and public law entities dedicated to the design, planning, programming, monitoring and evaluation of public policies may be allowed access to confidential data for scientific purposes covered by statistical secrecy, under certain conditions established by regulation, provided that they do not allow for direct identification of individuals, respecting data protection legislation and statistical confidentiality.

  • Survey on the change of public transport rates of ATM of Barcelona

The study objective is to know the changes that have occurred in the use of public transport among the users as a result of the reduction in rates that was applied from September 1. Specifically, changes are analyzed in relation to the means of transport used, the frequency of use of public transport, and the type of tickets purchased. In this sense, it also seeks to measure whether, once the discount is over, the users will continue using public transport in the same way. The results are presented for the interviews carried out in the two waves. The results also are segmented between the different profiles of public transport users, as well as depending on the interviews wave.

  • Survey of Sexual Harassment on Public Transport

The Survey of Sexual Harassment on Public Transport (EASTP) is an operation that stems from a collaboration agreement between the ATM, the ICD and the DTES for the prevention of sexual harassment on public transport and has been technically coordinated by the IERMB (Barcelona Institute of Regional and Metropolitan Studies).

The survey aims to provide information on situations of sexual harassment in public transport, and has been used for the diagnosis prior to the drafting of the Plan against sexual harassment in public transport.

    • Testimony and indirect experience of situations of harassment.
    • Direct victimization by different situations of harassment.
