How to get to the Barcelona-El Prat Airport by public transport

To get to or leave Barcelona airport there is a wide range of public transport options, including buses, the L9 Sud metro line (terminal T1 and terminal T2), and the Rodalies de Catalunya R2 Nord railway line (terminal T2).

Integrated travel tickets allow combined travel with other modes of public transport (metro, tram, Cercanías de Cataluña, FGC, metropolitan, interurban and night buses).

With these modes of public transport you can travel almost anywhere in Catalonia.

Tickets can be purchased:

  • At terminal 1 at the airport: at the tobacconist and inside the L9 Sud metro station.
  • At terminal 2 at the airport: inside the Rodalies (R2 Nord) railway station and the L9 Sud metro station.

  • L9 South provides a service to different districts of El Prat de Llobregat, L'Hospitalet de Llobregat and Barcelona; it links facilities like Fira (the trade fair centre), Mercabarna and the university area with the two El Prat airport terminals and connects with the FGC and Rodalies de Catalunya rail services, the Trambaix and the metro and bus network.

    The Aeroport T1 and Aeroport T2 metro stations are closed at the entrance and the exit, so you must validate your ticket to get in and to get out.

    Airport single ticket

    ​

    his is a ticket for one metro journey. Not integrated.
    With this ticket you can get to the airport from any station in the metro network or go from the airport to any metro station.

    Sale:

    You can buy them at any of the automatic ticket sale machines in metro stations when you go into the network.

    Ticket sale machines have to be set up at the exits of the Aeroport T1 and Aeroport T2 stations on L9 Sud for users who arrive at these stations with the T-casual card or an ordinary single metro ticket (tickets not valid for the service to the airport).

    Integrated tickets

    ​

    The T-grup, T-usual, T-jove, T-dia, T-16, T-verda, subsidised T-usual for unemployed people and T-FM/FN tickets can be used without any change in the ticket price and it will not be necessary to buy the airport metro single ticket.

    Queda exclosa

    ​

    The T-casual, T-familiar and T-grup card are not valid for arriving at or leaving the L9 Sud stations at the airport.

    The T-casual Treb. Aeroport* is valid for the L9 Aeroport T1 and Aeroport T2 stations.

     

    Social tickets

    ​

    All social tickets from the first fare zone can be used without any change in the ticket price, and it won't be necessary to buy the airport metro single ticket.

    Not integrated, only for travelling on the Rodalies de Catalunya rail network.

    All integrated tickets are valid for going from the airport to any station on the integrated Rodalies de Catalunya rail network and vice versa.

  • Lines in the integrated fare system linking the airport (terminals T1 and T2) to different points in Catalonia.
