Content of the Seminar

The 50th General Meeting took place in the Espai Vilalta auditorium, headquarters of the FGC in Barcelona on 26 and 27 October 2023. Barcelona ATM, as a prominent member, jointly organised the three-day meeting in the city with the EMTA, a meeting that coincided with the entity's 25th anniversary.

For two days, round-table discussions and presentations were held to pool the ideas and projects of all the European transport authorities gathered, which ended by them signing the Declaration of Barcelona, which included the following commitments on the part of the metropolitan transit authorities.

• Integrate local and regional services into a high-quality metropolitan public transport network and request that European regulation reinforces the recognition of metropolitan public transport.
   
• Intensify efforts for the decarbonisation of fleets, digital innovation and multimodality and request a clear recognition of the role of metropolitan transit authorities in the development of European Union policies.
   

• Request that metropolitan transit authorities can directly access European funds reflecting the magnitude of the task they have to carry out.
