Barcelona, 15 September. T-mobilitat, the new ticketing system for travel on the public transport network in the Barcelona area, takes another step forward this week in its gradual expansion beyond the Barcelona Metropolitan Area, and can now be used in zones 4, 5 and 6 on Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) and Rodalies de Catalunya commuter trains. Both operators will incorporate the new contactless validation system at all stations located within zones 4, 5 and 6 of the Integrated Fare System, covering a total of 54 stations.

FGC already has the entire Barcelona-Vallès and Llobregat-Anoia lines integrated with T-mobilitat, and Rodalies, all its lines. Users should keep in mind that Rodalies stations located in zone 7, in Ripollès, are not yet equipped to validate tickets with the new system.

Thus, T-mobilitat now facilitates travel across the entire rail network in the six fare zones of the ATM in Barcelona, as well as transfers between FGC and Rodalies trains and all other public transport services in the metropolitan fare zone (36 municipalities of the AMB). For the time being, passengers wishing to transfer to urban or interurban bus services in zones 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 must still use magnetic stripe card tickets on these services. Bus companies operating in these zones will be incorporating the new system gradually in the near future.

Points of sale for 4-, 5- and 6-zone transport tickets

From Thursday 15 September, 4-, 5- and 6-zone tickets will be available for purchase via all official T-mobilitat sales channels:

- Ticket machines provided by TMB, FGC, Rodalies and TRAM operators.

- T-mobilitat, TMB and FGC websites for purchases of the T-mobilitat card.

- T-mobilitat, TMB App and FGC T-mobilitat mobile applications.

- Customer service points located throughout the public transport network.

Transport tickets purchased with the T-mobilitat system also benefit from the same fare reductions as the magnetic stripe card tickets. Therefore, the travel passes T-usual (also FM/FN), T-casual and T-jove (also FM/FN) for all zones can be purchased through the new system with the corresponding fare reduction until 31 December 2022. It should be noted that all Integrated Fare System tickets will be valid until 15 January 2023. More information on the current fare reductions and conditions can be found on the ATM Barcelona website.

Please remember that all persons over the age of 6 years travelling on public transport are required to wear a face mask.
