The work to deploy the catenary-free system on a stretch of the tram lines at Glòries will lead to the location of the Glòries stop on the T4 line being moved to the Barcelona Design Museum Hub on 8th, 9th and 10th March.

  • During the same days, the T5 and T6 lines will start and end at La Farinera, meaning that the last stretch to Glòries will remain out of service.

  • On Thursday 7th March, the service on lines T4, T5 and T6 will end at 10:00 pm to enable the initial night-time work to be completed.

  • The T4 service will not operate during the morning of Sunday 10th March due to the Barcelona Marathon.

Barcelona, 5th March 2024 The service on tram lines T4, T5 and T6 will be modified from Thursday 7th to Sunday 10th March. The work to deploy the catenary-free system on the tram lines and the commissioning of the Glòries electrical substation (actions corresponding to phase 1 of the tram connection work along the Diagonal) will entail the alteration of the Trambesòs lines at Plaça de les Glòries. In order to affect users as little as possible, the plan is to carry the work out continuously over three days, 24 hours a day.

The first actions will lead to the termination of the service on lines T4 and T5 at 10:00 pm on Thursday 7th March. As usual, the service on line T6 will end at 10:00 pm. On 8th March the service will start at 5:00 am, the usual time.

The two most significant changes will occur from 8th to 10th March:

The location of the T4 Glòries stop, currently opposite El Encants, will be provisionally moved to the south of the square beside the Barcelona Design Museum Hub. In this area of the square the trains on the T4 line will travel in both directions on a single track, the one nearest the sea, a factor that could alter their frequency.

During this period, the new stop will not provide any information in the passageway or at the operational vending machines and users will have to enter and exit via the platform nearest the sea.

To facilitate the above operation, the service on lines T5 and T6 will end at La Farinera, meaning that the last stretch (La Farinera - Glòries) will remain out of operation.

Finally, on Sunday 10th March, on the occasion of the Barcelona Marathon, the T4 line will remain closed from approximately 7:00 am to 1:00 pm. During this time it will be advisable to use lines T5 and T6 to travel between Besòs and Glòries, as well as underground line 4, with stations at Ciutadella|Vila Olímpica, Besòs, Selva de Mar and El Maresme| Forum.
Information for users

During the day on which the service is modified, TRAM will ask the staff in the affected area (La Farinera and Glòries) to provide information, guide the users and ensure the flow of the pedestrian traffic.

Starting on Tuesday, the trams will provide information on the changes on the public address system and in leaflets. Similarly, the stops will be duly indicated with posters and signs.
The ATM, Barcelona City Council and TRAM will also provide information on their websites and social media.
