  • As announced, the cost of public transport will increase by 6.75% to offset the generalised rise in prices in recent years after three years of restraint.

  • The new prices approved today will enter into force on 15th January, which means that the expiry date of passes purchased before 14th January will be extended to 30th April in order to ensure that passengers can make full use of them.

Barcelona, 29th December 2023.- The Barcelona ATM’s board of directors has once again agreed to maintain the 50% discounts on the T-usual and T-jove passes, following confirmation of the State’s 30% contribution. Thus, the same discounts will continue in 2024 (including those on passes for single-parent and large families and the unemployed), thus reaffirming its commitment to benefit the most frequent travellers.

As for general ticket prices, the 6.75% increase approved by the Barcelona ATM on 19th December will be maintained to offset the different economic factors within the current context, such as the generalised rise in prices in recent years (nearly 15% of the cumulative CPI since 2019) and the significant financial imbalances suffered by operators due to the effects of Covid-19. The fares will be revised in the wake of three years of restraint in the cost of public transport, the different improvements in the benefits of social passes, the enhanced range of tickets, the renewal and expansion of the rolling stock and the technological revamp of the public transport system, entailing new associated costs.

In this regard, it should be recalled that the cost of the service covered by the administrations with their public contributions remains very high and beneficial for users, rising from 58.7% in the last pre-pandemic year (in 2019) to the current figure of 65.5% in 2023.

The new prices will take effect on 15th January

The passes with the revised prices approved today will be on sale starting on 15th January 2024, which means that the expiry date of all the passes purchased before 14th January will be extended to 30th April in order to ensure that passengers can make full use of them.
The T-verda and T-16 passes will retain the expiry date of each ticket.

Any 2022 passes that are still valid, given the extension of their validity throughout the current year, will expire on 31st December 2023.

No exchanges of 2023 passes will be permitted

This year, in agreement with the operators, the ATM’s board of directors has decided that no exchanges of used or unused 2023 passes for 2024 ones will be possible.
