The consortium, under the slogan Barcelona’s transportation made easy, played a major role in the opening ceremony of the #UITP2023 congress held on Sunday 4th June at the Palace of Albéniz in Montjuïc, which it sponsored. Marc Sanglas, secretary of infrastructures and mobility and president of the ATM’s Executive Committee, delivered one of the event’s opening speeches.

The Fira de Barcelona venue in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat hosted the UITP Global Public Transport Summit congresses on 5th, 6th and 7th June and, on the first day of the congress, the ATM’s stand was visited by different authorities in the presence of its general manager, Pere Torres. The stand was attended in the morning on 5th June by Raquel Sánchez, Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, and later by Pere Aragonés, President of the Government of Catalonia, accompanied by the Minister of Territory, Juli Fernandez, and the secretary, Marc Sanglas. To end the first day of the event, Torres and Luis Alegre, director of the ATM’s Mobility area, held a meeting with Mohamed Mezghani, general secretary of the UITP.

The second day of the congress was dominated by meetings with international delegations and talks and round tables in the stand’s Agora, a meeting point for international agents in the mobility and public transport sector. Here, the ATM team, together with entities comprising it, including the ATMTU and different representatives of partner companies for the ATM’s main projects such as Sermetra, SocMobility, SITEP, GMV, Tekia, Smarting and In-Move of RailGroup took part in the different activities held throughout the day. These included presentations of some of the ATM’s most important projects, including T-mobilitat and the tram connection works along the Diagonal.

Other major topics that filled the ATM’s Agora with content were financing in times of uncertainty, Artificial Intelligence applied to mobility, new forms of payment and the future of pricing in the integrated system. The stand, inspired by a sustainable urban scenario, also exhibited the design of the new global plan for the integrated network, which attracted the interest of numerous visitors.

In the talks section of the congress, Lluís Alegre, director of the ATM’s Mobility area, took part in the talk titled THE PERFECT MATCH: WHEN URBAN PLANNING MEETS MOBILITY PLANNING held on Wednesday 7th June. On the same day, Carme Fàbregas, director of the Systems and Innovation area, chaired the session titled FROM ABT TO MAAS: ENABLING AN ENHANCED CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE THROUGH ADVANCED PAYMENT AND TICKETING.
More than 14,000 congress-related trips with T-esdeveniment

As is usual for this type of congress at which a large number of trips are generated, the ATM made 4,500 T-event tickets. A total of more than 14,000 journeys have been validated, most of which have been made by underground, followed by ones with Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat (FGC) and the TMB bus. T-esdeveniment is a cardboard card with contactless technology that’s specially designed for the #UITP2023 and valid only during the event.

The T-mobilitat centres and the tram connection works attract dozens of visitors

The organisational committee of the congress asked ATM about the possibility of providing technical visits for the attendees. Two visits were arranged, one to the T-mobilitat centers (CAI and CGIM) and another to the tram connection works along the Diagonal.

ALAMYS celebrates its 28th Technical Committees in Barcelona

Alongside the congress, ALAMYS held its 28th Technical Committees in Barcelona under the motto Public mobility: a new approach to the service for citizens, at which ATM, together with TMB and FGC, played a prominent role as a member of the association and host. Pere Torres, the managing director of the ATM, gave one of the opening speeches, emphasising the commitment of the consortium and the cities in the Barcelona area to sustainable mobility. The committees included the contribution to financing issues made by Míriam Manrique, Director of the Financing Area, and the one on tram projects made by Eduard Cabrera, Head of the Infrastructure Management Service of the Mobility Area, to the Trams Committee.
