Barcelona, November 18.- The ATM presented T-mobilitat, at the Smart City Expo World Congress on Thursday, November 17. The stand of the Generalitat de Catalunya present at the congress held at the Fira de Barcelona was the stage where the director of the T-mobilitat area of the ATM, Ramon Bacardí, and members of his team, explained the evolution, operation, status of the current implementation and the immediate future of the contactless validation project.

Bacardí reviewed the current implementation of the project, which currently already has more than 440,000 users registered throughout the Barcelona area and the total number of validations accumulated in the system exceeds 51 million, 63% of which, with the most used title, the T-usual.

Bacardí himself also recalled the main objectives of the project, such as that of enabling other mobility services on a single platform towards a MaaS (Mobility as a Service) model or relying on technology with end-to-end security of public transport, while helping to reduce climate change. Another of the key purposes of T-mobilitat, - explained Bacardí - is the fact of having a unique digitized, multi-user, multi-operator and multi-territory system.

Current deployment of the T-mobilitat system

Regarding the implementation of the new system for operators, as of September 2022, all the railway operators (TMB, FGC, Rodalies and TRAM) have already implemented 100% of T-mobilitat in their vehicles that travel through the six tariff crowns.

Currently, the project is in its final phase of deployment in the Barcelona area, with the integration of the latter boarding bus operators, that provide urban and interurban services. The forecast is that by January 2023, T-mobilitat will be integrated into 100% of the public transport network in the Barcelona area, to subsequently extend it to the rest of the Catalan territory throughout the year 2024.

On the T-mobilitat website the territorial expansion of the system can be viewed.

New stages after T-mobilitat; mixed mileage model throughout Catalonia and bank card compatibility.

Silvia Roig-Serra, attached to the direction of the T-mobilitat area, has highlighted three ambitious projects that will be carried out in the coming years; projects that thanks to having T-mobilitat in service can be carried out in a better way. For all of them, there is a subsidy from European funds, the REACT fund and MRR fund. Firstly, the extension of T-mobilitat throughout Catalonia; in the area of Lleida, Girona and Camp de Tarragona -an extension deployed by the Department of Territory-; secondly, the development of the technological solution that allows access to public transport with a bank card, starting the activity with only the simple ticket and finally, the design of a new transversal tariff integration model for the whole of Catalonia, applying a mixed kilometre system model (kilometric and zonal rate).

The operational and attention centres of T-mobilitat; the CGIT and the CAI

On the other hand, the presentation also featured the operation of the two operational and service centres of the T-mobilitat of the Barcelona ATM; the Catalan Transport Information Management Centre of the ATM, (CGIT) and the Attention and Information Centre (CAI), co-directed by the ATM and the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB).

In turn, Guillem Vall, responsible for CGIT, has explained the operation of the centre as an integrator, communicative hub and source of dissemination, emphasizing its main objective: to become the main public transport information HUB in Catalonia.

For her part, the coordinator of CAI, Sonia Gomez, recalled the main purpose of the centre; to ensure that the information is available in a transversal way in all the service channels of the operators and administrations, always with the aim of simplifying processes and improvement through active listening to the user.
