T-mobilitat, the new system for travelling on the public transport network in the Barcelona area, takes another step forward this week with its expansion beyond the Barcelona Metropolitan Area, as it can now be used on FGC train lines. Two of the railway operator’s lines, Barcelona–Vallès and Llobregat–Anoia, are now ready for use of the new system in zones 2 and 3.

The Vallès line is fully incorporated, with all its stations situated within zones 1, 2 and 3. This means that T-mobilitat can be used at 12 more stations: Rubí, Sant Quirze, Can Feu-Gràcia, Sabadell Plaza Mayor, La Creu Alta, Sabadell Nord, Sabadell Parc del Nord, Les Fonts, Terrassa Rambla, Vallparadís Universitat, Terrassa Estació del Nord, and Terrassa Nacions Unides.

Meanwhile, the Llobregat line is only partially incorporated, with T-mobilitat able to be used as far as Sant Esteve Sesrovires, along the Igualada line, and as far as Olesa de Montserrat, on the Manresa line. This adds the following stations: Martorell Central, Martorell Enllaç, Abrera, Olesa de Montserrat, and Sant Esteve Sesrovires. For the time being, passengers who wish to travel beyond zone 3 cannot use T-mobilitat and must continue to travel with the typical magnetic strip tickets.

So, users who wish to travel using T-mobilitat throughout zones 2 and 3 can do so exclusively on FGC trains and/or using an FGC train to then transfer to one of the other operators within the metropolitan area that are already incorporated (metro, train, bus, tram, etc.). However, travellers on an FGC train who would need to change to another means of transport in zone 2 or zone 3, would still have to use a typical magnetic strip ticket.

Sales of 2- and 3-zone tickets
As Ferrocarrils is the only operator currently offering travel, the corresponding 2- and 3-zone travel tickets are only available through its specific outlets: self-service ticket machines, the website (on a first card request), the T-mobilitat app (available soon), the usual FGC customer service points in Barcelona, and at two new kiosks to be opened in Terrassa Rambla and Sabadell Plaça Major. These new offices will be open from Monday to Friday (8am-8pm), Saturdays (9am-5pm), and Sundays (9am-2pm).
