Barcelona, 24th may.- T-mobilitat, the new system that facilitates travel in the public transport network within the Barcelona Area, has introduced the 1-zone T-casual pass, the most widely requested travel pass in the integrated fare system, which enables passengers to travel among the 36 municipalities of the Barcelona Metropolitan Area using a rechargeable card or a mobile phone (Android with NFC). In addition to the single-passenger 10-journey pass, the new system has also added the T-familiar, an 8-journey, multi-passenger travel pass that lasts for up to 30 days, which is also designed for use within the metropolitan fare zone.

These two travel passes have been added to the 1-zone T-usual and the T-jove passes, which are also available in their discounted versions for single-parent and large families. Hence, with the launch of the T-casual, the most widely used travel passes in the network are now available in the metropolitan fare zone, in other words, in the 36 municipalities of the Barcelona Metropolitan Area.

This means that registered T-mobilitat users can now load the T-casual onto their travel cards via the transport network's self-service machines or through the official T-mobilitat applications (T-mobilitat and TMB App). In the case of those who use their mobile phones to travel, users with an Android device with NFC can recharge the travel pass directly and easily via the app itself.

Those who are not yet users of the new system may join online, through the T-mobilitat, TMB and Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya websites. To do so, they must first register, then create a digital account and finally access their personal account area to purchase the card, which will then be sent to the address they provide. Users may alternatively opt for the in-person option and register and request the card at a customer service point, most of which require an appointment in advance.

Around 180,000 ticket validations each day

Currently, around 180,000 journeys are made each weekday using the T-mobilitat system, and the system is growing at a rate of approximately 4,000 people per week. In all, more than 180,000 people are now registered in the new system. With the introduction of the T-casual, the rate of growth is expected to increase in the forthcoming months.

Passengers are reminded that T-mobilitat initially affords use of the public transport network among the 36 municipalities of the Barcelona Metropolitan Area. The system will be gradually incorporating the last remaining integrated tickets and will begin to expand to the other zones of the integrated fare system in the upcoming months.

Please remember that masks must be worn by all passengers over the age of 6 when travelling on public transport. Public transport is an essential service for the public and is used by everyone, including those with particularly vulnerable health. Therefore, the public transport network continues to be conceived as a space that must provide the highest guarantees of safety for all users. As regards the platforms and stations, the use of masks is also recommended, though it is not mandatory.
